My resolution for 2022 was to only write fanfiction for fandom exchanges. I was thinking it would only be a handful of times throughout the year and that would redirect my writing energy towards original fiction. Except I keep finding more and more multifandom exchanges and I want to participate in them all! As I write this, I am eyeing the Hurt Comfort Exchange and the Unsent Letters Exchange. Lemme tell you, I am Tempted. So very Tempted. I love Hurt/Comfort as a trope. And the premise behind Unsent Letters sounds so fun!
In January and February, I had a fun time writing for the Rare Femslash Exchange. If your femslash pairing had over a certain amount of fics in it, it did not qualify for this exchange. I wrote a gift and a treat, and I also received a gift and a treat! Here are the fics in question.

I never expected to receive a treat, so I am very excited to announce that I received two fics in this exchange! Both are fairly short, but both are lovely. I can’t pick a favorite out of the two.
This first one is just plain fun, and it captures the slapstick essence of Sailor Moon perfectly. There’s also a gimmick in this fic, so I can’t say much about it in terms of plot. But I loved how everything played out, and the characterizations of everyone is spot on!
Battle to the End by neosaiyanangel
Fandom: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
Relationship: Seiya Kou/Usagi Tsukino
Quick Summary:Two sailor scouts, both alike in stubbornness, vie for [SPOILER]. I’m not going to give specifics because the fic is so short and the reveal is comedic gold. This fic is delightful and the ending made me smile.

Relationship: Seiya Kou/Usagi Tsukino
Emotional hurt/comfort where Usagi and Seiya visit Mamoru’s grave. The angst was delicious and sweet. Go read it!

I defaulted my original assignment, unfortunately. I felt kind of bad, but I also couldn’t get into what I had to write. I tried a few times, and I was not feeling it. Nor was I feeling any idea that came to mind that my recipient would like. I’m sure if I had the spoons to get something together over a long period of time, I would be able to. But the writing period for this was also during an intense family emergency and thus, any writing I did couldn’t be for something that required a lot of mental energy. So I apologize to my original recipient for defaulting. I hope you got something much more amazing that I could have ever produced.
I did, however, spend an evening trolling the request summaries for prompts I could knock out as treats. To make up for not writing for my original recipient, you know? This prompt I fell in love with, in part because it’s a similar idea to what I requested. And why not, right? And I got such sweet, long comments on it too! The recipient really liked it, which is always heartwarming.

I also took up a post-deadline pinch hit! I was reading through what needed to be written and I came across one prompt that I figured I could write. So I got the pinch hit, wrote the fun little fic, and had a good time. As of this writing, the recipient still hasn’t commented, but they did leave kudos.
