This wrapped up more than a month ago and here is my summary of fics received and written.

I organized this event, with the help of my wonderful mod team, and there was a time last month where I thought of putting out some type of wrap up/summary post about everything about the exchange, from how many words were written, which pairings and tags were the most popular, etc. That never happened. This is also not that post. I am Tired and can’t be bothered. (If I didn’t have a day job, maybe I would have bothered. But alas, the rent payment is due every month regardless of my fancies.)

Anyway, as a mod, I had a great time and I am glad for the positive reactions to the exchange. As a writer and contributor, my recipient did not kudos or comment on my fic. They also defaulted their own assignment. There was one ask shortly after Assignments went out that expressed upset feelings about the assignment they received, and I have a feeling with no proof that my recipient was that disgruntled anon. I have only kept that to myself until now.

But enough about that. Here is the wonderful fic I received!

The request I wanted most of all was a Cam & Pal fairy tale AU and my writer delivered! In my request, I specified that the fairy tale in question is up to the writer. I am honored that the fairy tale recreated here was a homebrew tale from the writer’s favorite librarian as a child. Seriously, that’s so amazing. I love this little fairy tale. I cherish it. Please read it and send the writer many deserving platitudes!

Thinking that it would be easier to match with someone, I put in my offer Modern Setting Griddlehark, knowing that I could write that pretty easily. Well, that was certainly the tag I matched with! Except there was another prompt that caught my eye: The western vampire au. I knew going into this fic that I would be writing that, as that was the more interesting prompt I received.

So I give you my fic! I spent hours and hours reading this aloud in a Yankee version of a Southern accent, so advanced apologies if I get turns of phrases completely wrong. I am not a western gal, but I leaned into what I knew of the aesthetic as I wrote. Please enjoy. And if you feel like making a podfic out of it, you have my permission to do so! I think it would sound amazing when spoken aloud, but that’s just me. :)
